3) The performancesThat’s right, during a festival you will have the chance to see performances of the maestros that you took lessons from, and you will be able to appreciate how the concepts you’ve worked in class come to life in the dance floor. 4) The orchestrasIt is a tradition that milongas during a festival have an orchestra playing for the dancers, and dancing to the sound of a typical orchestra is a pleasure for any tango fan, that unfortunately it’s not always possible due to the costs of an orchestra for the milonga organizers. 5) The milongasBeyond performances and live music, during a festival, milongas are a show by themselves. There are many great dancers that may be don’t participate in the lessons (giving or taking), but that definitely want to be in the milonga. This means that you will see a really high dance level on the dance floor, so high that many times you won’t know where to look at not to miss all the good dance going on. 6) The energyI don’t know for sure what it is about the festivals, but the energy generated between the people in the festival, but the fact of everybody being immersed in the world of tango, sharing the same experience for a few days generates an awesome energy. And don’t be surprised if after the festival is over you find it difficult to get out of bed. 7) The tango communityAfter several days of taking classes together and seeing one another in the milonga, a feeling of community is generated among the participants of a festival, regardless of age or nationality. You will be able to truly experience how tango is a worldwide feeling. These are some of the reasons why it’s worth participating in a tango festival, talking in first person, I would like to say that many of my most fond tango memories come from some of the festivals in which I participated.
