Sabor a Tango introduce themselves as the only German orchestra that plays the typical Argentinean tango. Peter Reil and Robert Schmidt, two very well-known musicians in the world of German tango, founded this orchestra, which is made up of ten professional musicians (four bandoneones, four violins, a double bass and a piano).
After many years of experience in smaller formations, where their possibilities regarding sound were limited, they decided to set up a typical orchestra of the golden age of Buenos Aires, with which they could bring that special sound to big stages and tango halls. In May, 2004, in Berlin, the orchestra had its premiere, which was very successful among tango lovers. Since then, they have played in several festivals and milongas across Germany and Switzerland. Among the most important concerts, we could point out one given in Berlin with the legendary master Raúl Garello in commemoration of the tenth anniversary of the twinning agreement between Berlin and Buenos Aires.
The repertoire of the orchestra is made up of great hits of the tango history of the last century and some personal compositions. Peter Reil transcribes the arrangements for Sabor a Tango from the orchestras of Pugliese, Troilo, D’Arienzo and Di Sarli. Sabor a Tango is an unforgettable experience for any audience in concerts as well as in milongas.
