Sandra (Ekaterina Gorbounova-Schirren) is our new partner for Tango-Club in Russia. Sandra is a Russian from Moscow and she moved to Germany 14 years ago. Sandra has been dancing Tango for more than 10 years, and she also taught and helped set up two schools for Tango Argentino in Hamburg. Lately she has begun intense travelling to live the tango community, to meet tangueros/as from different cultures and of different dancing styles.
Tango Argentino in Russia has a long tradition, in dance and in music. Sandra is fascinated by the particular tango culture she finds in Russia. "Russians have their own deep understanding of the dance and the music; a high standard and at the same time progressive way of understanding the dance. But it is difficult for foreigners to find the interesting Milongas in Moscow, Saint Petersburg and other cities, because venues often change and most of the information is only available in Cyrillic. I see it as my job to serve as a bridge between the Russian and other Tango communities."
